Château de Terre-Neuve
Visit Château de Terre-Neuve and take a guided tour of this historic place. Built in 1580, various great men and women have stayed at the Château, from Nicolas Rapin, poet and great army chief, to the famous writer Georges Simenon.

Discovery walk of the town
After your lunch, discover the historic centre. Forty two information panels guide you through the Renaissance lanes and the remains of the old medieval castle of Fontenay-le-Comte (map of the walk and booklet available at the Tourist Office - Place de Verdun).
To end the day, why not take in the Fontenay-le-Comte Museum of Art and History.
Holder of the "Museum of France" award, its collections are an invitation to discover the riches and the cultural and historical heritage of the Southern Vendée: Gallo-Roman glassware, Vendée furniture, a gallery of Fine Arts where the works of significant Vendean artists of the 19th and 20th centuries hang. A scale model also shows how the town was during the Renaissance, the golden age of the town.
